Hammerson sale hopes buck office downturn

Hammerson, one of Britain's biggest property companies, is hoisting a For Sale sign over one of its largest London office investments despite the gloomy outlook for the commercial property market.

The latest news and analysis from the construction and property sectorThe building, which is jointly owned with Kajima, the Japanese construction group, and boasts Deutsche Bank as a major tenant, was last valued at £160m. But thanks to the downturn in the commercial property market in recent months, marketing for the building is understood to be at less than £150m.

Rough treatment alleged

I support you OPD, our streets need to have some order and listening to thses people it will never happen

This is a serious problem that we have in our community. People do not trust our local authorities (some for good reasons). How are we supposed to call the police for help when they are going to take their time getting there and when they finally do get there they beat the victims? Then the OPD wonders why there are so many people who do not want to talk to the police or have anything to do with them. People dont want to call 911 and get treated like criminals. There is probably a reason that they are calling out for help but when the police gets there, they are beaten.. There is something wrong with that to me.

The Many Faces of Big Pharma’s Disease Mongering

Most people blame Big Pharma and the docs in its pocket for elevating everyday anxiety to depression, depression to bipolar disease and childhood behavior problems to major psychiatric diseases.

But there are others to thank for the national pathology of creating and treating diseases that aren't even there.

There's the 200 US medical education and communication companies (MECCs) who ghostwrite journal articles for Big Pharma–"just sign here, Doc; we've reviewed the data"–for $20,000 to $40,000 per article.

Like Complete Healthcare Communications (CHC) whose phalanx of 40 medical writers, editors and librarians has submitted over 500 manuscripts to journals for clients Pfizer, Sanofi-Aventis, Wyeth, Schering-Plough and AstraZeneca according to its promotional materials, with an acceptance rate of 80 percent.
